GETTING HERE
San Juan Island is - well yes, you guessed it - an island! That means it's surrounded by water, so you will either arrive by boat or plane, unless you are an excellent swimmer.
From Seattle, here are your options:
OPTION 1 — DRIVE + FERRY
First, get to the Anacortes ferry terminal. It's roughly 2 hours north of Seattle-Tacoma airport (SEA) and 1 hour 15 mins from Paine Field airport (PAE). You can rent a car or take an airport shuttle to get there from either airport.
Then, take the ferry from Anacortes to Friday Harbor (about ~1 hour, scenic, and fun! Drink some beer and play monopoly deal.)
Walking on? No reservation needed - just buy a ticket at the terminal. There's long-term parking at the ferry terminal and Friday Harbor is very walkable.
Bringing a car? Reserve a spot both ways on WSDOT and drive your car right on the ferry.
Washington State Ferries releases vehicle reservations in phases, and they tend to fill quickly. The first reservations for our wedding date will become available in mid-April 2027, so be sure to check back or set a calendar reminder.
OPTION 2 — FLY DIRECTLY TO FRIDAY HARBOR
If you'd like, skip the drive and ferry with a flight directly into Friday Harbor. Faster, more expensive, and objectively very cool. Some options:
Seaplane — Kenmore Air floatplanes leave from Lake Union and land in Friday Harbor's marina, a few blocks from downtown (~45 min flight time). SeaTac to Lake Union is roughly a ~20 min drive.
Wheeled plane — Kenmore Air Express flies from Boeing Field (~35 min; they run a shuttle from SeaTac) or from Paine Field (~25 min) into Friday Harbor Airport, less than a mile from town. If you're connecting through Paine Field, you can book the whole thing as one ticket through Alaska Airlines.
ON ISLAND — BOPPING AROUND
Friday Harbor is very walkable - seriously. And we’ll provide transportation to + from the welcome event on Friday and wedding on Saturday. If you want to explore beyond town, bring a car - beep beep.
STAYING HERE
We will provide guests with transportation to and from the below locations, so it's highly recommended you stay at one of the following - or close-by! - if you are not driving to the venue (ride-share is super unreliable on the island).
